Last night I received a call from a woman whose husband had fallen down the stairs outside their home. Bruised and battered, but with no clinical signs of internal bleeding, he was left with few conventional options to speed his healing.
Anyone slightly familiar with homeopathy can recognize what remedy is indicated here-arnica montana, the small mountain flower that’s bruised and battered by the conditions surrounding it.
Having been used for hundreds of years, it’s surprising how unusual it is for arnica to be used in the emergency room or urgent care settings. It’s very easy to look up online for more information on dosing, indications, and where it can be purchased.
Along with her husband’s injuries, the woman was also recovering from the fright of her experience, re-living the episode each time she closed her eyes or looked over at the stairs. The fright and shock of the experience made for another clear prescription: aconitum napellus, or aconite for short. This remedy also has a long history of use, and especially helps with “shocks” to the body (cold, dry winds leading to quick onset of illness) as well as shocks to the mind and emotions. In fact, aconite is also known as the “arnica for the emotions.” Like arnica, aconite is very easy to look up online for more information.
If homeopathy could only offer these two remedies to modern medicine, like the old McDonald’s signs, they would soon lay claim to “millions and millions sold”–that is, millions of people would see the near-miraculous potential they each hold.
Homeopathy actually offers hundreds and hundreds of other remedies for almost every conceivable problem: other acute injuries such as scrapes, cuts, puncture wounds, burns, as well as all kinds of acute and chronic physical, mental and emotional issues: earaches, flus, indigestion, muscle strains and sprains, as well as low energy, insomnia, problems concentrating, feelings of anxiety or depressed mood.
Many people ask “can homeopathy help me with …….?” The answer is that while homeopathic remedies can help with most conditions, it’s more important to see whether they’re a match for the person experiencing the condition. That is, homeopathy addresses both the person and the condition, not just the condition alone.
If you would like to see if homeopathy might be a fit for you or a loved one, give me a call. You can reach me at the Ommani Center @ 262-695-5311.
